Anguilla is a destination that matches all types of vacations: honeymoons, couples escapes, and family vacations. During our visit, we stayed at the Malliouhana, an Auberge Resort.
Malliouhana has been regarded as one of the finest resorts in the Caribbean since its opening in 1984. The newly refurbished resort has re-emerged to blend modern amenities with the warmth and gracious hospitality of the Caribbean.
The resort features two infinity pools… One for adults only and one for families.
It’s the “little things” that make the difference. A few times throughout the day, the pool staff offers guest around complimentary refreshments to cool off while enjoying the pool.
Adult pool cabanas are first come first serve and provide a relaxing environment.
The resort is build atop a panoramic bluff overlooking the Caribbean and reaching down to the white sands of Meads Bay and Turtle Cove Beaches.
Turtle Cove Beach, located near Terrace Suites, provides a secluded and quiet area to relax.
Meads Bay Beach is the main beach area for the resort including the location of the water-sports department.
The resort features a wonderful children’s program and playground.
Sunset Bar is a prime spot for enjoying dramatic Caribbean sunsets. The Sunset Bar offers the area’s largest selection of rums from around the world, while also offering specialty cocktails handcrafted by the resort’s mixologist.
The Restaurant at Malliouhana is known for its exquisite setting and “sea-to-table” cuisine. The Restaurant at Malliouhana features award-winning Executive Chef Jeremy Bearman, formerly of New York City’s Michelin-starred Rouge Tomate.
Guest rooms and Suites are spacious with the most fabulous views of the Caribbean Sea.
Blanchard’s Beach Shack and Blanchards Restaurant are owned by Bob and Melinda Blanchard of Vermont. They are conveniently located within walking distance of Malliouhana on Meads Bay Beach. Both of these dining experiences are our absolute favorite on the island of Anguilla.
Bob and Melinda Blanchard fell in love with the kindness and good nature of the Anguillians. In 2006, the Blanchards founded Blanchards Anguilla Children’s Fund to help support the local school and community. More information can be found at http://blanchardsrestaurant.com/mission.html
We highly recommend the Beach Shack for a casual dinner experience and most definitely for lunch!
Blanchards Restaurant is a more formal dining option with one of the best wine collections on the island.
Veya Restaurant is also a favorite of ours when visiting the island of Anguilla. We enjoy the beautiful atmosphere, friendliness of the staff and great local menu. Veya also features nightly live music in the lounge.
The Jet Set Kid loves getting her hair braided during vacations to the Caribbean. Unbeweavable Divas was a fun local salon to experience.
For special occasions, the team at Malliouhana will create a bonfire and s’mores experience. This was extra special to help us celebrate the birthday of The Jet Set Kid.
